President Bush plans loophole to allow old factories to increase carbon dioxide emissions

The US government plans to allow outdated factories to increase carbon dioxide emissions without any ramifications. The change in regulations could benefit approximately 17,000 substandard plants and facilitate the existence of coal-fired power stations. The new regulations would allow old plants to be maintained and upgraded by a provisional 20% without having to install any filters or anti-pollution equipment. Thirteen states are challenging the plans. Carbon emissions from the US already make up 25% of the world’s total emissions.
