Video interview: Gareth Knight, Technovated – UK startups, what we’re doing, and office space
by oneafrikan on March 2, 2007
Mike Butcher interviewed me at the Future of Web Apps last week:
I interviewed Gareth Knight from Technovated.com at the Future of Web Apps conference last week but due to the WiFi being so bad and other things getting in the way since I haven’t managed to upload it until now. Yes, lame huh. Anyway, even though the sound and video is a tad out of sync, I think it’s worth showing.
Lemme know what you think? ;-)
PS – we’ve still got some desk space going at our office in Putney…

Gareth,
You mention that you’re building some workflow APIs; have you had a look at the SOA model, and process orchestration? (You can find some ideas on orcestrationpatterns.com).
For handling availability you could simply have the person explicitly set themselves available/unavailable, or have a look at some of the material around When 2.0: http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=2236.

Andrew

Hi Andrew
Yup, we’re defo looking at the SOA model. In fact, that’s all we’re looking at. Right now, we’re eating our own dogfood…
As for availability, yep, that’s the idea – and from what our research and discussions have told us, that’s the approach to take. More on that soon ;-)
