Going on holiday
0 Comments Published by Gareth Knight March 31st, 2005 in General, South Africa, Best of the BestPhew, I’m off on annual leave on the 14th of April, and it’s kinda snuck up on me. So much to organise and get together so that Sarah and I can have a cool time. But, when you get your accomodation sorted out (for a few days at a place like […]

2 Comments Published by Gareth Knight March 31st, 2005 in Web, Business, Technology, South Africa, UseabilityI have a bone to pick. I think you may agree with me as well.
I wanted to go to this article on the ITWeb.co.za site, about South African expats buying property online.
But, that article took literally 4 minutes (I started timing after about 30 seconds) to load for me… And I’m on a […]

On South Africans and returning home
2 Comments Published by Gareth Knight March 24th, 2005 in South Africa, DiasporaThe other thing I talked to my friend about is him returning home to South Africa in October.
On the one hand, he is really excited. Excited to be going back, and excited to be moving into his own home, after living in other people’s homes for 6 years or so.
On the other […]
Do you really need all the email you get?
9 Comments Published by Gareth Knight March 24th, 2005 in Productivity, GTDI was having a discussion with a good friend of mine last night, about two things. One was email productivity, and as he brought up some interesting points, I’ll distill them here.
Typically, we receive a lot of email that’s not really important, from friends doing the usual reply to all, and from co-workers sending […]
Rory has put together Blankes.net, which is quite provocative.
If you’re a South African, you’ll know exactly what it means, if not, you probably wouldn’t (it refers mainly to the apartheid /anti-apartheid mentality and duality that a lot of white South Africans express, in their words and their actions, both overseas and in South Africa), as “blankes” refers to “whites” in Afrikaans.
If you need more info, ask Rory - it’s an interesting discussion
